Purpose of this criterion

To manually verify the reading order of the document

How to verify

  • Tools > Accessibility > Reading Order
  • View > Show/Hide > Navigation Panes > Tags

Important

Use a screen reader to read the PDF.

Listen to ensure that the information presented is properly structured and establishes a logical relationship.

The image below shows you the "Tags" pane. Use the "Tags" pane to verify the structure, hierarchy and logic of your content. 

The image below shows you the "Reading Order" dialog box which can be used to fix your tags if they are incorrect.

In order to tag your content or edit existing tags:

  • please select the element of interest by clicking on the highlighted box 
  • or make a selection of the content by dragging your mouse
