Principles: Supported WCAG Success Criteria

Guaranteeing best practices in web development, design and content, the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) form the backbone of the City’s Digital Accessibility Principles & Knowledge Base.

The following WCAG success criteria make up the City's Digital Accessibility Principles:

Note that this list includes success criteria from WCAG 2.1. These Guidelines encompass all of WCAG 2.0 and extend it to support:

  • modern, responsive development suitable for all devices (including mobile/touch)
  • clear, consumable content across platforms

In places where there is debate over the correct interpretation of the WCAG success criteria, the Knowledge Base clarifies the preferred City of Toronto approach.
