The Call-to-Action component is used to prominently feature a link (explanatory text and a button) to an application, interactive form or survey or other transactional function that is specifically related to the content/purpose of the page. The Call-to-Action feature can help persuade users to take an action related to a program or service.

Additional Call-to-Action Criteria:

  • The Call-to-Action button must be the primary action item on a page.

  • Should always be located at the top of the page.

  • Only one Call-to-Action per page for the primary action.

  • Do not use a Call-to-Action on menu pages, unless the action applies to all content within that section.

  • Avoid banner images on standard pages with Call-to-Action features.

  • Do not include any hyperlinks in the Call-to-Action description. Only one hyperlink/action should be included which the user follows when clicking the blue button.

  • Must only link to transactional content (for example, an online form or survey, downloadable application or account login). Cannot link to informational content.

  • No headings, bullet points, images/logos, bolding, italics or additional colours within a Call-to-Action.

  • Must not be used inside accordions or tabs.

  • Description should be no more than 300 characters in length, including spaces. Must be written in sentence case.

  • Button text must be concise, actionable, and written in title case (for example: Adopt a Pet, Complete a Survey or Submit an Application).

  • When a Call-to-Action must appear on a page with an Alert and Highlight, the order is:

Alert > Call-to-Action > Highlight.

  • No labels
