The dynamic decision tree is a tool to allow users of the website to make a guided decision to an answer, by answering 2-4 questions. It is used when there may be a lot of possible scenarios and users need help in narrowing down the information by presenting one decision at a time.

The decision tree does not collect any information about the individual user.

Step

Example

Start Page: a brief explanation of how to use the tool and a Start button

Decision Pages: uses radio buttons to present options for the user. Radio button options should be short and distinct, and not include any HTML.

Each response may require a brief explanation as per the pattern for using help text with radio buttons. Descriptions should be limited to 1-2 sentences and may contain a link for more detail, but no other HTML elements.

Users can move back and forth to see the outcome of different decisions.

The maximum number of decision pages is 4.

Outcome: the final page summarizes the outcome of the decision tree, and provides next steps to the user.

The user can start again to see a different response.
